I am excited to be heading back to guide expeditions in Borneo this spring and again in September. I know many have written off Discovery and other channel’s content to bizarre reality TV, but there a new series called Frontier Borneo which looks very interesting. There is a variety of episodes, many highlighting conservation efforts to save orangutans, pygmy elephants, and sun bears from the poaching and habitat destruction. You can check their website HERE to see descriptions of the episodes, airing times, and view previews and full episodes that have already aired. The videos didn’t seem to be loaded the last time I looked, however. On March 28 there is an episode on releasing Lawa, the sun bear that was released with funds raised by a gofundme campaign I created, and Natural Habitat Adventures! Another episode features the struggles pygmy elephants endure living on the fringe of palm oil plantations. Click Here to see a recent article I wrote about pygmy elephants. These unique forest elephants have defied the odds through amazing conservation efforts by locals, the Sabah Wildlife Department, and the World Wildlife Fund. Here is some footage of these amazing elephants that I filmed while guiding in Borneo for Natural Habitat.
As you guys might already know, I am obsessed and in love with Borneo. The primates, the frogs, the elephants, the sun bears, the flying mammals…. There is so much diversity, and there is such a need for global appreciation that supports and encourages conservation to this amazing land that has suffered so much pressure and destruction at the hands of humans. Hopefully this new series, “Frontier Borneo” will be a big hit and help the many messages go out. Borneo is an awesome place and it needs help.
