Brown Bear Cubs Playing.

Thought I would post this old video I filmed years ago of bear cubs
playing in Katmai. Notice how the mother initiated the play, then went for a snooze in the river once they got riled up and began entertaining themselves. Mother bears know instinctively that play is vital for a cub’s development. Mother bears with 2 cubs spend less time and energy playing with their cubs then if there is either a single, or 3 cubs. WIth 3 cubs, there is often one left out, and obviously a single cub has no playmate.
